
He stepped to the edge of the canyon and looked down at the river that wound its way through the valley, as it had done for ten of thousands of years.
He counted the rock layers, watched the raptors circling above him on the thermals, and searched the green banks for deer.
Around the bend, the tourists crowded the waterfalls, standing at the edge of the spray and posing for selfies.
He preferred this less picturesque, more difficult to reach spot. Here, he could be alone with nature and imagine the world as it was without a human boot print.
