The sign at the gate said, “Beware of Dog.” The technician stood in front of the fence, toolkit under one arm. He rang the bell again.
There was no answer, so he let himself into the yard. He rounded a corner and stopped short.
A dozen damaged robots, each still tethered to their dock, lurched toward him. They reached the end of their cords’ slack and reared up, growling and barking.
Each of their screens showed a snarling canine mouth. They definitely had the virus.
He’d have to work fast before any of them figured out how to get loose
