The gladiator thrust his blades into the sand and posed for the crowd. Their roar of approval was so loud he felt as much as heard it. It surged through the runes carved on the inside of his breastplate making him stronger and faster.
When the Empire conquered his village, he kept his magic secret. They pressed him into the fighting pits anyway.
The only thing that kept you alive in the games was the crowd’s favor, so he cultivated it and worked a spell to put it to use.
Soon, he would win his freedom, and get his revenge.
